Default New cams...

So,

I just purchased som SHM turbo grinds and am going to install them this weekend. I'm going to re-tune and re-dyno on Sept. 12th. After talking to the man Sean Hyland himself, he claims a 30-40 rwhp gain with no other changes. Well good thing I'm upping the boost to 18 psi but keeping it on pump gas. Also a little update on my whip...after my deployment, my stock fuel pumps decided to take a crap from sitting for 7 months with no use...so I upgraded to the Fore billet hat with twin GT pumps and single -8 line and some 80lb Ford Racing flow matched injectors. Also added a Zone 5 Stage 2 FPDM. Hopefully she'll make 775-800 rwhp at 18 psi. Wish me luck. Pics and vids to come...eventually.

Of course. I dont let many folks touch my car. Myself and a few close friends who drive Cobra's themselves are going to do it. We dont have ALL the special tools, so I am anticipating a few bumps in the road. Also going on at the same time...my polished valve covers, and SLP line lock. Already ran the switch for it and wrapped the solenoid in heat tape...headers make a lot of heat. We're doing the swap with the engine in the car. We're going to drop the K member on the drivers side loose so the engine will fall enough to get the valve cover off. Hopefully someone will have a camera.

You don't need to do that. Take the hydroboost off (leave the master cylinder on it) and you'll be able to snake it off past the clutch cable.

Also, you don't need a lot of the special tools they list. You'll need a degree wheel, dial indicator, and you can make a piston stop with an old spark plug. I hope you have adjustable cam gears, though, it's a bitch without them.

Oh, and you don't need a valve spring compressor or anything. Just leave the cam followers in. A lot of people bitch that it's tough to turn the cam with the followers in since you fight the springs, but it's not bad. I did it with COMP springs and had no problem.

I do have Comp adjustables...but I decided not to do the cams. The valve spring compressor I got...http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-90518/ DOES NOT WORK WITH THE 4V MOTOR!!! DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU NEED IF FOR A COBRA!!!

I decided that I didn't want to try and get cute with inching down cam girdles, so I just put on the polished Valve Covers and installed my SLP line lock and called it a day. We dropped the motor (k-member) on drivers side and had every thing done in about 4 hours. I know that I could've removed the booster...but it seemed much easier to do it my way. I did get some great pics...they will be posted soon. I will save the cams for my Teksid/stroker build.
