IRS Bolt/Fender Roller??!?!?
Just ordered a set of CCW wheels, 18x9.5 front and 18x11 rears with a 315 tire in the rear. Seen guys with 335 out back and wonder if the fenders need to be rolled? Have HR sport springs with iso's so its not crazy low. As the the IRS bolt, looking into the one american muscle sell from Max. motorsports were the bolt is "Rounded" so even if the tire hits, it shouldnt be damaged. If there a better bolt? ha.
Thanks.
Thanks.
basically find out your rims front spacing. Take the rim width and subtract the backspacing. This is how much of the rim will sit from the rotor outwards.
If its 3.5 or less your fine, if its 3.75 or less you should be in the clear, 3.75 is probably THE limit with a normal sidewall tire (not super buldgy). 4.00 is flush, you will need to roll the fender for it. Any more than 4.00 well the tire will stick out from under the fender probably (you MIGHT can squeeze it to 4.25 maybe...)
With all that said mine are 4.00 18 inch rims with 295 BFG kdw tires and I have yet to roll my fenders, I went over NASTY bump and barly touched a tire to my fender edge... not bad. My car is lowered 2 inches, if you are stock height you will probably be ok regardless 90% of the places you go.
The area where tires hit are on the back edge where the rear bumper meets the rear quarter panel up to about the top height of the rear fender~ you dont need to roll them flat just take them from 45 degree to about 90 (facing up) and use a heat gun and only use the roller from eastwood.
You may need shorter head bolts for the inside~ you may not. When you jack up the car it may hit but when the car is sitting on the ground it may clear~ just have to check. Dont go with maximum motorsports button head bolts (unless they have fixed them) as they are prone to mess up when trying to be removed (threads eat up and cant turn them)... I have them and hope I dont have an issue but just FYI.
