Adding Engine Compartment Light
We have a 97 Cobra and it does not have a factory hood light. I wonder why the Cobra's didn't have one. Is the wiring there to plug one in? I am going to add a factory style one from a 95 or 96 regular Mustang. Has anyone done this? If so, where did you mount it, pics?
I really hate to say this , but, here goes, if i were going to ad one to my 98 cobra it would be a junkyard special from a 90s chevy pickup, they are mounted on the passenger side inner fender and reel out 10-15 feet and has a on-off switch built in!! That way you could mount it anywhere and turn it on-off anytime!
But thats just my opinion, you do what you feel is right! Good luck.,,,,,,by the way,, i believe if there is factory wireing it will be on the driver side between the brake booster and the fender!

Thats funny you mentioned that. I actually have one of those on my 95 F150. Ford offered one back in the 80's that was retractable, but it had a spring loaded return instead of the reel like the Chevy one. I like the Chevy one better, thats funny for me to say being a Ford guy.
On the 97 Cobra though, we just want it to look stock. Since the hood is different than the GT and V6, I was just wondering where people mounted the light. I don't even have a good picture of a stock one installed.
Thanks for the tip, I'll look and see if there is any wiring down there.
