Is a stock Cobra ever worth more then book?
I looking to get a mustang again, I would love to have a termi, or a mock, but my buget is geared for a new edge GT or a 96-98 Cobra. So I have been looking for the past month or so. Most of the Cobras I have found have had a harder life then I would like, but have been priced fairly. excepted one. It is a 96, bone stock, with 47000 miles, and the price is $15995 plus dealer fees and ttt. KBB in top condition is $8500. when I talked to the sellsman he is like well, it is a colectors car,and one owner blah blah blah, and thinks thats a fair price. The car is not even a one owner, carfax says it has 5.
anther example is a 93 with over 100000 miles, asking $18000. So are these people crazy or am I missing something.

dealer is just trying to steal your money. i would not pay no more then 10k for a low mile 96 mystic cobra thats only the one i would wanna be willing to pay over 8k for. 18000 for a 93 cobra with a 100k miles is a joke!

They will sit on that car for a long time. Any collector or anybody that knows mustangs/cobra's is going to know that car is no way worth the asking price. Not to mention there is no way your going to get financing on it at that price. Also regular car insurance would only pay book value if it ever was to get totaled. My advice to you is, if you really are interested in this car give the salesman your name and number. Give him the price you are willing to pay (KBB). After they sit on this car for awhile they may just call. Yes these people you mention are crazy

i'd be very skeptical especially since the salesman lied to you about it being a one owner car. Is the car a collector car, no. Is the car a limited production car, yes. Big differance, but that price is way way way high.

CARFAX reports just give an estimated amount of owners based on the national average for a car that aged. My car was one owner, mechanic in the back knew the guy who owned it and knew he bought it new. Car fax said it had 3 owners. Nope.
Unless that mechanic made commission O_o

My carfax said something to the effect of 'probable' amount of owners. I don't have it right in front of me but I remember it saying something along those lines.
Definately not a 'It had this many owners. Period.'
