Default 03 Valve covers problem

Well ive been trying for about a hour or so to get the driver side off, and i just cant figure it out. Ive read that you dont HAVE to take the hydro off, but im not undrstanding how you can get it off without it being off. So if anyone can give me some pointers, the clutch cable also seems to be getting in my way.
