Default Dropping the Engine and Trans

I am wondering whats the best way to drop the engine and transmission into a 97 cobra SVT body. Should I keep the headers off and set them to the side of the engine as I drop?? Or will it fit with the headers still attached. Or can i take the passenger side headers off and keep the driver side one? Any one who taken engine and trans in and out of mustangs please help.

Thank you

ya dude done it a couple times i will always drop from the bottom take the k member off and there she is...you can leave the headers on when dropping through the bottom plus you can use it to strap the motor to a hoist....i would prolly drop the tranny first then the motor just so you dont have to fight the weight of both

I've always gone from the top. Only way to do it without a lift. Taking headers off is not necessary unless you have forward facing long tubes like I do.

I have access to a lift and and engine lift. I would like to keep the trans and engine together when putting it back into the car. Just trying to see whats the fastest and easiest way to do

sorry i didnt explain that i had a lift it would prolly be pretty hard on the ground but i still say bottom is the easiest if you have access to life and hoist

If you have long tube headers, you have to take them out, in order to take the engine from the top.

Default pulling motor

I've done it both ways and it seems easier to pull and put back from the top. Leave the headers on and get plenty on angle from a load leveler. It should slide in w/o too much effort.
