I'd say either get it now....or just put a Stock input shaft back in!! ....Remember, if you 26 spline in the future, you'll have to change the clutch & re-surface the fly wheel!!!

I just got the 26 spline input shaft and 26 spline clutch disk do you think it's okay to not resurface the flywheel since I only have a thousand miles on this clutch

So what I'm getting out of this thread, is that our engines are well built, and I believe our trannies are decent, but our clutches are sub-par? Is this something we should normally worry about as we mod to increase power?

Roger. Yeah I've owned the Cobra and a 98 TA M6, both with the T-56. The TA I drove to 175k miles and the engine and transmission were both still strong at that point. The clutch was shot, but heck it lasted 175k miles, can't complain!

So I figured the transmission would be good in our Cobras too. Maybe it's not that our stock clutches are bad, per se, folks are just saying 'if you have to replace it anyway you can do better'...?

It's when you get like a spec 3 plus clutch like mine where theres no give at all it just grabs hard and you find the weak spots in your driveline real quick. When I had the stock clutch in I had no issues with anything because the stock clutch is made to slip a little bit
