Default Gear pattern messed up?

I was driving my 96 cobra earlier today and it about left me stranded at an intersection where I live. I noticed when I was driving that when I hit 3rd, 4th and 5th gear that there was nothing there. My clutch cable is stretched really bad, and I'm going to replace it tomorrow. I got the car to go into 4th gear, but 4th gear was where neutral is located. My guess is that my short throw shifter might have broke? Or maybe a linkage? I'm not real sure I'm going to inspect it tomorrow. I'm sure its not the trans though because when I was pulling in to where I live I went through all the gears but they were not in the right place.

All help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

doubt its the short throw shifter that broke the stop blocks on the shifter could have vibrated back therefore not letting you get into gear both sides doing it doesnt make sence...i thinks its your trannny sadly

I really doubt that its the tranny because I went through every gear and it pulled fine. It just my gears were all out of line.
