lowering the cobra... need help
getting ready to install a set of eibach sportlines that lower the fron 2 inches and the rear 1.75. the problem is the shocks/struts. i have been doing some research and found that some people use shocks/struts for a 93 cobra because of the drop. Is this a good idea or should I stick with the ones for a 94-04? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

so are you asking whether to replace your shocks or not?? or what to replace them with?? if you are replacing your shocks then get some good ones cause a lowered car on stock shocks/struts no matter what year it is it will eventually destroy them whether its a month or 2 years
so if you dont have the money to get some new ones i understand cause there expensive just run your stock ones and slowly put money away maybe a shock at a time until you can replace them all

Time to upgrade now, wait till you grab some good aftermarket struts and shocks before you lower it. 90k miles, those stockers have done thier job well, but i dont see them lasting very long at all on the drop. Some nice adjustable shocks arnt too much, the struts are ussually alot more. BUT if it was my money i would return the springs and swap to a coil over setup since you are most likely going to have to get new suspension.

97 cobra with airlift 1000 front & rear
I lowered my 97 cobra about 3 years ago (2 inch front & 1.8 rear) using KYB adjustable shocks front and rear. I love the looks but the ride has always been a little rough. With my kids in the back seat the bump stop would bottom out occasionally so I installed the airlift 1000 kit on the rear. Problem solved! I can set the air pressure at 25 and no more bottoming out. Recently my front end has been a little rough when I hit a bump so I took the front shocks off and they were shot. What I didn't pay attention to when I bought the shocks is I should have used shocks for a 93 which are over an inch shorter which will help compensate for the 2 inch drop. I put new KYB shocks on again but this time they are for a 93. What I also decided to try was installing airlift bags in the front coil springs to help. I used the same air compressor for front & rear by splitting the output line with a tee then installing 2 shut off valves purchased at lowes so I could use the same same air guage for front & rear. Plus if there is a problem with the front or rear I can shut that air valve and still use the air bags (front or rear) that don't have a problem. The hardest part for the front was drilling a 3/8 hole in the top frame above the coil sping to run the 1/4 air hose through. The back air bags I was able to slide into the coil springs. For the front I had to remove the coil spring and put the air bags in from the top. Works for me, alot cheaper and the ride is 10 times better.
