Default speedometer calibration gear location?

Hi, I just changed out my rear end gears on my '96 Cobra to 3.73; I ordered a recalibration gear from Steeda, but I'm just wondering where it's located - is it the tranny? By the way, the new gears really wake up the motor; I'm very happy with the results! Thanks in advance!

Honestly i would send the calibration tool back and buy a bama tune and get free tunes for life. 379.99 for all of that and you really will see a big difference. just a thought

Yea 379.99$ compared to 15$ for the plastic speedo gear, all you need to do is unplug the VSS sensor located on the tranny (drivers side) and its 1 bolt that holds the clip and gear in, pull it out swap to the new plastic gear for 3.73s, install. Done. ALSO, a hand held tuner can not change the speedometer on a 96 cobra. Only way to do it is with the gear, or a speedcal.

agree hand held will not change the speedo. Dallas mustang also has an electronic speedo calibrator. I'm currently using with with my 4.10s, and also with my 3.73's, works fine. Simple install from what i remember, no problems since. 3/4 years of use. A little research I done in the past suggested the plastic gears werent very accurate at higher speeds. Something to look into, may or may not be the case.
