Needing help identifying this...
My 99 Cobra has started leaking oil and a preliminary trace has led me to the area of the oil cooler adapter. If I were to hazard a guess, it looks like the oil pressure sending unit might be the culprit; however, it's also possible it's coming from the "port" located directly below the sending unit. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I've checked my Haynes manual (pretty useless for Cobra), as well as Ford's shop manual and can't find any reference to it.
Also, the Ford shop manual doesn't indicate draining the oil before removing the sending unit and that just seems crazy to me
, but if I can get away with not draining it, it would save me buckets of time - anybody ever remove it with oil still in the motor?

I have had both the sending unit leak at the crimp to the plastic and the adapter to the block leak (at different times). the adapter leaked where it was bolted to the block its a plastic gasket with RTV type o rings embedded into it cost was less than 20.00 but a pain to change as there is 1 hidden bolt(all 10mm size) 1/4 drive ratchet set made it go reasonably easy. then 6 mos later the sender started leaking! easy to change. I lost a small amount of oil on both projects. clean the area at the car wash to determine which is leaking .
...and all I had to do was run a nice little bead of high temp rtv at the top of the threads, and I'm no longer finding oil spots in the driveway. Of course I did this back when I first posed the question and just now got around to reading the replies...still, I appreciate your replies nonetheless...
