Have you checked the Mass flow sensor? Sounds like it could be causing your problems. Would read fine when slowly raising the RPMs but when you dump it could cause the motor to bog due to the map sensor reading wrong. I would try that and the O2 sensors. Is your fuel mileage getting worse? Hope this helps bro.

The stuck IMRC's are a very very common thing on 96/98 4V's. Just Google Cobra IMRC and 10 billion threads on 30 billion different forums will come up on how to fix

Short term fix is to zip tie the plates open. If you gain all the power back you know it is them causing your problem

If opening the butterfly valves didn't help you have other problems. check the classifieds on SVTP or the Corral for the controler

If you don't have a code no.
I'm taking a stab in the dark here only because it happened to me. Is your plug that plugs into one of your coil packs upside down. Yes I understand that their is only one way to put it on but if that plug gets messed up it is possible to put it on wrong causing the car to run kinda like you describe

ill take a look at it, i took it to my local ford dealer and they told me it was the controller for the imrc's..i dont think that was the full issue as you were stating. im not sure what else to check after this. i just ordered a bama tuner from AmericanMuscle, i dont know if that will show me any codes or if it will just tune my car to where it needs to be, but i got little to no power back from opening the valves, if they actually did it as they say they did considering they only charged 215$ for 3 days of diagnostics and tying off the cables so they stay open
