i know the difference btw the 2 engines. i had this one built. i didn't pull it out of a gt. it should perform better than the original cobra engine that came in it.

If it's brand new.......did you consider that it might not be broken in yet (rings not sealing, meaning you won't make the full power you could).

yoU MIGHT HAVE TO GET TO ECU TUNNED. Did you use the same injectors. The Cobra motor used 24lb. injectors. If you didn't use them. And the ones that were in the regular 5.0 motor were only 19lb. injectors. If thats the case your mass air meter is messed up. And you should put the 24lb. injector form the orginal motor in.

And dude...if it's not broken in, DON'T BE DRIVIN IT LIKE YA STOLE IT.

How long a motor lasts depends on how well it was maintained AND HOW WELL IT WAS BROKEN IN.

Default RE: new engine trouble

yeah same injectors. its an older engine probably 70's but it was professionally built with good pistons and cam and all ill post details later. it just seems like there is something im not thinking about. poor throttle response leads me to think there is a fuel air problem. any more ideas?
