Default S550 Manual Transmission fluid recommendations

Hey guys I have my 16GT, it has notch shifting right now when cold and during cold weather. I have three quarts of RP Synchromax ready to throw in it, I was wondering if any of you guys were running something other than factory fill in your s550s.

The MT-82 changed to using the same fluid as the DPS6 (dual clutch transaxle) sometime in 2012. The dual-clutch fluid is made by Castrol (BOT 341) and is I think somewhere around 75W. AFAIK Synchromax is intended for manual transmissions which use ATF or lower viscosity oils, so I don't know if I'd feel safe using it. The MT-82 is just a bit balky when new and at cold temps.

you have no idea how bad it was before they changed to the dual-clutch fluid.

The factory fill is indeed a straight 75W. I've had good luck using Red Line MTL synthetic which is a 75w-80 viscosity oil. Don't know about the S550 but the S197 greatly benefits by fitting an aftermarket shifter, specifically the MGW.
