Default What will it take to beat this?

My dad got a mustang GT/CS and his friend a few days later got a 09 Camaro SS. It pumps out 422 HP and 553 ft lbs of torque. My dad's GT/CS is still COMPLETELY stock and he wants to beat his friend's car. So what can he do to surpass the SS?

Blower or Intake, Tune, Full Exhaust, then throw in a something special, like a 150 shot LOL. That will make his damn car fly

You need a blower and nitrous or a turbo. Wait... no, no you don't.

You only need about 57 hp more to beat him and better gearing because the camaro is geared so well. so 357 v 422 is what it works out to after you factor in the weight difference.

I know this because I plugged the numbers into an accelerometer program and used math to calculate the difference between 600 lbs more over the mustang.

You need 305 RWHP which is very possible on a N/A car on the higher extreme of bolt ons.

Very nicely said I applaud anyone on this forum who can come up with things like what you just did. I should hope that when I start seeing them at the track that I have no problems based on your calculations... I'm pushing out 326/338 to the wheels right now. Regardless of that, I can't wait to line up next to one of those camaro's.

wow thats amazing, i knew that the Camaro was a lot heavier, so would u say that FRPP cams, CAI, tuner, exhaust, and 3.73 gears could beat him?

Meh, CAI, Tune, 4.10-4.30 gears will put you will get him by a couple cars, add in some D/R's and you'll blow his doors off. Then add in something like an aluminum D/S and/or Long-tubes, Mid-pipe, and/or axle backs and you dominate him.

Your dad could throw in a few suspension mods as well which would help a ton as well.

Stock Camaro SS/LS3 you got a chance with CAI/Tune/Gears. Once he starts modding that LS3... well... we'll just have to see what happens in a 3800+lb car. FWIW, its got a TON of potential.
