Talking 95 5.0 vs 99+ 4.6

So tonight I was just out for a cruise and ran into a newer gt stang (4.6) and he asked if I wanted to run em. I just got the car but I changed all the fluids and its been running strong so I responded lets do it. He took me too my old drag racing spot where we had the 1/8th marked out, brought back some memories of racing there with my 06 acura type S but anyways we lined up. He took some air out of his tires for traction, I didnt. This was my first time running the car so I practiced launched and we lined up for real. I kept spinning out of the whole but It was close every time. He usually got me by a half car at the 1/8th from the dig but I had NO traction with my 225's. However when we did roll's I got him EVERY SINGLE TIME. I was really surprised. His was stick and he was a fairly good driver. I thought the 4.6 would rape me but I was completely wrong. Maybe I got a beast from the factory, cause all its got is a msd cap and straight pipes. It was a great night and a lot of good runs in. Just thought Id share and see what you guys think! Rolls in my opinion were the best way to judge how fast our cars were compared to each other. Great runs and I cant wait to do it again!

Yeah that is a little surprising considering your mods. My buddy has a 95 Cobra with Trick Flow heads and cam, full exhaust and full bolt ons, and 3.73 gears. He puts down over 300 rwhp. When we race (even from a roll) he beats me, but not that bad at all! I put down 270 rwhp with just bolt ons (stock heads and cams).

if youre making 270 wheel with boltons and E7s, the dynos either broken or the shop is trying to make a bogus name for themselves.

Thats believable on a cobra 5.0 cobra, though.

Well i kind of doubt it! We dynoed 1 week apart on the same dyno. Our cars are tuned by the same shop that owns the dyno as well!

I have a msd and straight pipes and his was stock well that's what he said and it looked bone stock too. I thought I was gonna get eaten on a roll by the 99+ 4.6 but now I'm extremely happy with my choice of the 5.0 over the 4.6....cant wait for bolt on's and heads =]....and mines just a gt not a cobra however I am fairly competent at driving a stick shift.....and the dig was fun but I couldnt hook! =/ its on stock 16's with 225's....I spin even if I roll on it in first.....=]

This shop installed my gears and nitrous, and did a custom tune, so i'm sure they took that into account.

270rwhp with his supporting mods is not surprising for a PI 2v. He does not have a 5.0L.

OP are you sure that it was a New Edge GT? He should have pulled you even with your mods, but the street is the street so who knows.
