Default 2006 GT vs. 1998 WS6

Hey,

My friend just picked up a new car-a 1998 LS1 WS6 Vert. He didn't tell me but I'm assuming it's stick like all of his other cars.

SO, To break in his new ride I'm gonna have to run him.

Basically I'm not worried about losing. Call me cocky if you want b/c it's an "LS1" but I'm totally confident. I've beaten F-body cars with LS1s before and I don't think he will be a problem. It's 100% stock as far as I know AND it's a heavy vert.

My question is what should I run him at?

A dig?

20 roll?

40 roll??

Again, I'm not worried about losing and I know I'll win at any speed BUT I wanna know what race will give me the best advantage and allow me to put the most distance between us. I wanna be able to harass him about the win before he mods and makes it a beast!!!

Any ideas??

Thanks

What makes you so confident about this? You'll be better off going from a dig. He's going to pull you up top.

Racer's Bench ftw...

Based on your numbers and the fact that it's a '98 LS1, I'd say its yours either way. Now run them and let us know.

I owned a 98 LS1 Z28. If he's totally stock, i think you'll pull him till the top of 4th for you...if you can drive. After that you're done!

The top of 4th for Vista will be around 140 mph, so if he holds him off that long, I'd say Vista won, lol! I had a automatic 98 Z28 too, it didn't quite make the numbers that other LS1s were making, but it still had long legs. Manual LS1s of any year are tough competitors up top, just hard to hook without practice or DRs. Good luck OP.

Racer's Bench ftw...
Because I've beaten more than one(two lol) and one was stock, one was modded.

I don't base my car's power and prowess off of 5th gear OD pulls so I don't care if he starts to catch up after 4th.

Yea exactly. The race will end at the end of fourth for me-no way I'm going faster than that. It spins from a dig pretty bad but it also pulls hard as hell so idk. Also a second gear 40roll pulls pretty damn hard too. I can't decide what kind of race to challenge him to. I just want to put as many lengths on him as I can so even when he's faster down the line I can still harken back to the time I won LOL

Ohh and I missed the mph---as pointed out 140 is a no go for me with 4.10s

125mph roughly at 6k is where I shut it down

1. Because it's too fast IMO
2. 5th gear won't help haha

If you beat two, one that was stock and one that was modded....did you race those two from a dig or a roll?

Both from various roll speeds 40 and 60 and one from low speed 20ish...?

Both the distances were different both times and I can't say for sure where I had the biggest strength. I know I put a pretty good whooping on the stock one---also a vert
