Default Fox Vs 1st gen

Ok, i know this thread will more than likely get moved, but I don't have the ability to post in the correct section due to being a "Noob". But my question is, if anyone cares to answer, How well will a stock 87 hatchback 5.0 5 spd with 2:73 fare in a race with a 66 or 67 coupe thats automatic with headers, heads, and a cam? I know without the 4 link rearend it should have traction issues right? I ask because a friend of mine just turned 16 and he is already hounding me to race. Thanks for any advice/answers. And to the mods, I'm sorry I posted this here, if I have a different alternative place to post plz let me know.

lol ok good. So your confident my Fox will win? I don't want to race something out of my cars league. I know I just have the base 5.0 with those turd gears.

I'm pretty sure he has a 302 in it. But assume it to be a 289 or 302 and how would my car go against each? I Heard the car tonight. I'm not really impressed with its sound, and it sounds like it has an extremely small cam if not just the stock one.

if it doesn't have a stall converter, you should jump him pretty good. A stock converter will kill an auto car

A couple of friends of mine had foxes that both ran a 9.30 in the 1/8th mile. One was an 88GT with a stick and 2.73s. The other was a 91hatch with an auto and 3.08s and paxton 1220sl putting out 6lbs. of boost. So yeah, it should be close at the very least.

Was that on a drag radial or street tire? Right now I just have street tires, Cooper zeon 275-40-17, for the rear of coarse and I never have traction issues. I know its because of the 2:73's but I mean, I'm gettin my power to the ground without spinning. But I dont dump the clutch either.

the stick car was on a street tire. He just feathered the clutch to get the launch right
