Default 2.73 to 3.55. any ed. guesses!

My vert ran a corrected 14.303 @ 96.023 stock. Had about 3/4 tank 87 octane and a launch from idle, no wheel spin and 1500 miles on it. 60 was a terrible 2.3+.

I am adding magnaflow streets as soon as it is back on the road. I wondered if there were any educated guesses as to what the 3.55`s would do for the car. I am getting new tunes for it but want to start stock and get times for each of the 3 tunes. I will be running 93 octane when back on the road.

Curious what just the 2.73 to 3.55 would do for it.
Thanks

My guess is you will trim a few tenths with gears alone.

+1 99GT, I'm going with 2-3 tenths at least. It should be easier to get off the line at this point, plus you'll be higher in the power band after each shift...

Yup.... 3/10ths gain... Half a second with 3.90s or 4.10s

I agree with these guys. A few tenths with the gears alone.

I think you could eventually see a 3 tenth gain (trap increase as well) from the gears, but its going to take more than one trip to the track to pull it off. You're car needs to rev, and the gears will definitely help you do so and get into your power faster.

I think its silly that Ford didn't at least make 3.55s or 3.73s an option for the V6s (or did they?)

when I went from 3.31s to 4.10s I gained about .5 so they are probably right on the .2-.3

I'm going to have to do gears in my 2012 right away.. 3.15s.. yuck.

Thanks ya`all. I am hoping to make it into the upper 13`s with a good tune but we`ll have to see. I ran 14.303 with one very early tune on it. I have been assured that the new tunes are better since AM got their own v6.

This 2.73 took almost 2 seconds to reach 3k rpm. Then it wakes up. I do know the 0-60 time went from (these are just stopwatch figures and I only claim they are close.) about 6.7 to about 5.4. The time-to-power-band (I just made that up) is greatly reduced with the 3.55`s. Car weighted 3875 on the US131 Dragway scale with my 195 lbs in it.

Again, thanks for the replies. I`ll let ya know how it works out.

Slip showed 14.8441 @ 94.63. I don`t remember the temp but it was hot. I post only corrected times so they can be compared with some accuracy to any other track and conditions. I also ran 14.49 something when it was very cool one eve. Corrected was almost the same as the 14.303.
