Default S/C 05 GT Vs. Full Bolt-on 06 GT.

So, kind of a funny story. I just bought a 2005 GT with a Vortech on it less than a week ago. I don't even have the car yet, (at the dealer getting detailed and the bumper painted) and I am being called out, LOL.

A guy at work has an 06 GT, with Headers back, 3.73 Gears, Shifter, Intake, Tune and UDPs. Said he puts down 320 RWHP and 331 RWTQ.

My GT (don't quote me on the full mod list, as I haven't really checked the car out)

Has a V...(not sure if it's a V2, S-trim, etc.) Vortech Kit, 456 RWHP, not sure about TQ, JBA Headers, Catted Mag. X Pipe, Stock mufflers, Anderson Power Pipe, 4.10 Gears, and a Custom Tune as well as a short throw.

I will have 315 Falken Azenis on the car, so Traction should not be outrageous for me.

Clearly, there is a huge power advantage in my favor. However, I am asking since I have been used to driving 99-04 Mach's/Cobra's, and am not used to driving the new 05+ GT's in a Manual. I know I can shift the car decently quick initially, but you never know.

Let's keep on topic. Just want to hear your thoughts and share an interesting call out.

-Chris

...even if you are new to the car, I think your car should destroy the other car that just has bolt-ons..

Yeah even if he's running dr's, and you race from a dig, you should still be able to reel him in at some point.

I am sure there are a couple that would disagree with this statement.

I don't remember any big changes from 05 to 06 so if the numbers and mods are accurate I think your new car should take it.. might be close due to traction but if you can get it moving it will be all you.

A buddies 06gt with bolt-ons and 4:10's runs 13.04 in the mountains but I tinks you could reel him in if he gets the jump

The only big difference from 05-06 were the gear change.

Other than that, we weight the same, I make 120+ more RWHP, and will have a Decent Drag-like Radial on and won't be launching the **** out of the car. He will be on street tires, and his 4.10's won't exactly help him off the line with street tires on. His car is also a Manual car.

I guess once the weather clears, I get my 315's on, we will race from a dig first, then a roll and see what happens.

I personally think from a Dig, if I don't spin too badly, I will put a good 4-5 cars on him by the top of 4th. If I spin, I think he will stay ahead by a car until 3rd gear and I will eventually put 2 or so cars on him by the top of fourth.

We'll see.

^ yes. However, on his way out today he said he might put a tire on his car.
Either way, I am confident I will pull him pretty hard even with my average driving ability.

Agree with every one else. He has one advantage though. He's use to driving his car.. But once you guys take off and (if) he get's the jump, by the end of the third gear it should be all over..
