600HP GT500 w/ DR's

skip the drag radials and buy some 15x10 welds with some hoosier qtp's or similar. drop the clutch at 6k and powershift and run 10's.
i heard stories about this new "drivetrain" they're doing, but haven't seen any real info on it. cant wait until someone from ford spills the beans!

Well, if I were someone who got one it'd probably take me a little while to get comfy enough with that much power.
Not to mention clutch dumping a 54,325 dollar car at 6k on slicks seems a bit crazy to me.

I know someone who cut a 1.85 on DRs with nothing more than a 4.10d New Edge
getting a good launch on a nice DR in that car should be relatively manageable.
I wonder what that guy could manage with a handful of passes.

Its usually easier to cut a better 60' in a lower powered car than one with twice as much power, especially on a DR. In a 4.10 NE, you can basically just bring the RPM up to 5k or where ever, slip the clutch, hold the pedal to the wood and go. If its a good track, the DRs will hold and you have a decent 60'. In a 600 hp car, you can't do that since you're trying to float the throttle and find where the limit is on the fly. Its doable, but takes a lot of practice.

Its all going to come down to what Ford does to the car to get an extra 60+ HP and more TQ to the ground. I know lots of people who have pulled 1.8s in their 300rwhp cars on street tires. I even managed to pull 1.7s on street tires in a 350rwhp car, but I had gobs of suspension and it only happened when the track prep was above average. When I had the procharger on the same car making 150 more to the wheels, I was lucky to pull a 2.0 and not break loose at any point down the track. Basically, if Ford takes their current suspension set-up, and simply drop a bigger engine and more power into it, IMO it will be as bad as the 08 GT500 was when it came to hooking up, handling, etc. With that said, I would be shocked if Ford actually did that, lol. Judging by their recent improvements, the new GT500 should be better than ever... hopefully.

All the reviews I have read say the 11/12 GT500 has been quite formidable on the track, just a bitch to launch at the drag strip.
Anyways, it probably won't be available till march or april, and then if someone were to order one how they want it, you're probably looking at may or June.
