Mine wouldn't spin more than a couple feet when I first picked it up either, but I also noticed it was pinging, so I ran the gas out and refilled at a reputable station with 93, then it would spin the tires 3-7 feet depending. Then I ported the TB and it would spin all the way through 1st, and now with the tune it will keep spinning on into 2nd if I don't let out, or if I hit it anywhere from a roll while still in 1st gear, or if its a slow enough roll to kick back down to 1st, lol. I guess my point is that they seem to be on the breaking point of spinning stock, and since they respond so well to mods, it doesn't take much to send the tires up in smoke.

LS1s aside, I still think you picked up one of the best engines to modify. I gotta agree with Greddy about the 4R70w. I would just swap the internals or pick up a used one and slap your bell housing on it. They're actually pretty tough transmissions, especially when built right. I can't wait to see what you turn that car into.

All the LS1s I drove were just to much money for the milage. The 2000 Trans am I drove with 130K was missing interior parts and the t-tops leaked and the guy wouldn't come off $7500. I'm going nitrous with this car. So it shouldn't cost much to make it respectible

Trickflow head/cam/intake, and this

on3performance.com

done. for like $5,000-7,000 total spent. "low" boost will put you at 500+ at the tires.

STOCK 8.8 can handle it, as long as you have good tires. buddy's car 351w and 200 shot hasn't broke it, and the only mod is the clutch packs are replaced, and new gears. stock control arms too, on slicks.

I don't get on here much since I've been trying to sell my mustang..... So if you want some 5.0 advice, just shoot me an email, and ill help you out where I can.

he said he wants nitrous so he can do it for a lot less than 7k. a good h/c/i setup with a 200 shot will put him around 500hp/600ftlbs. build up the auto with a nice converter and suspension set up and it'll be a real nice 10 second car.

if I was at the house I would post up a local guys car.

h/c/i 302 (might be a 347, been a while since I looked at his specs) with a like 3700 stall, GREAT suspension, and I think 200 pills. Run's 10.3's at our elevation.

if my POS doesn't sell its getting 150pill, probably run low 11's. then it will get the 200 pills and probably blow the block apart.

What is a good H/C/I combo? The locals all seam to have edelbrock RPM heads a 303 cam and gt40 intake. I'm probably taking it to the track next friday just to get a stock baseline.I am now the guy I used to make fun of, lol. I can tell already this is going to be a real fun project. The car gets alot of attention and I'm loving the exhaust note. Yea any suggestions you 5.0 guys have. I'm all ears.

87 has a pretty stout build too. Might want to get a parts list from him too.

go hang around in the 5.0 section there's a few real smart guys in there that will deff steer you in the right direction(mjr & adder). i would not waste your time with those parts you listed tho. e303 cams are extremely old technology, a nice comp xe or preferably a custom grind cam would be best. for intake i'd do either a edelbrock rpm 2 or holley systemax, or a trickflow r series. heads I would go with something on the large size, afr 185s, canfield 195s, or some good trickflows.

a good h/c/i will get around 300 but an e303 cam and gt40 intake wont get you there.

go look at some of my videos. **** runs good.

trickflow 170cc heads, stock there good, but a mild port job, or get the "fast as cast" series heads, and they rock.

off the shelf trickflow stage 2 cam

victor 5.0 intake

add supporting mods, bolt ons, fuel pump, injectors, ETC.

I was making 321rwhp with a inferior intake, now I have the victor intake manifold, and it picked up 4mph, so I should be around 335-340 at the tires...... with a 302...

that sould be good for low 12's high 11's with enough weight out, gear, and slicks.

add in some nitrous, and your solid for low 11's high 10's.

I can't compare my 1/4 mile to sea level obviously, but on motor I out run just about any car at the track thats not trailered in, or if there walking me, they have a power adder.

corral . net has the best classified section, used parts for cheap, and the parts I've listed are nothing special, and relatively cheap for the power you will make.
