Default Mara vs. Morbid grudge race expectations

So me and my good buddy have been going back and forth about which one of us would take the other. We've pretty much came to the conclusion that he would take me from a stop, and I would take him from a ricers roll. Hopefully we can line them up in spring and we will video for sure.

This will be a street race.

Take into account the GTO is auto, and mine is a stick. However my launching has improved, but I still have a long way to go before I get perfect. Seems like I get better traction on the street compared to the strip.

I'll have to get him to chime in this thread,

GTO mods
6.0L LS2
auto
MT DR's
tune
??

So what do you think?

I just got my CAI and tuner the other day, so it will be on for this run. 93 oct BAMA race tune

This should be interesting... Subscribing.

I can't remember what morbid ran last... 12s with 108ish traps? Definitely will be good from a dig, the roll is going to favor the 5.0 though.

If you can get a good launch I say you win the roll and dig race. We all know that the 05 + GT's respond very well with a CAI and tune so, I can just imagine how your 5.0 will repsond to those mods. Being that you're both running DR's it should most def be a good race. This one most def needs to be on video!

If you hook I would imagine you would win, the new 5.0s are monsters. My friend put a boss 302 intake, exhaust, longtubes, and tune and with a et street has gone 11.7 in the 1/4

That 12.xx@108 may have been before the tune but with DR's..or after I don't remember. My guess is the goat will launch harder but the 5.0 will be able to catch it by the quarter mile marker..maybe even at the 1000 ft mark or some ****.

Iirc, Morb ran his time with intake, tune, and a DR.... 106 trap, 12 something. His trap looked low to me though, especially after watching him pull pretty good on a Mach in another vid. In other words, I dont think his ET is a good indicator of how strong his car actually is. This is going to be an interesting race or sure! I gotta give Morbid the nod from a dig up to 100, and the 5.0 up top without a doubt. If the 5.0 wasn't running heavy wheels, it would be capable of taking the win dig or roll.

If you can hook half decent and can bang gears then I say you can win both races!!

BTW, when my '11 GT was X-pipe/tune only I outran my uncle's M6 '03 Mach 1 (he ran a 13.03 at 107+ on stock Goodyears) by 5 to 6 car lengths from a 2nd gear roll to 120 MPH.

12.7 @ 106MPH on a 1.7 60ft

MT DR's
CAI
tune

If I can recreate that short time on the street Mara will have a hard time out-launching that on stock rubber... that is where I'm coming from.

His car is clearly faster, not really doubting that, he would pull pretty good from a roll for sure

Are those M282's able to handle a hard slick/skinny launch at a well prepped track? I'd be cautious going with too much traction on your particular car considering the trans problems... it's one thing to have a CAI+tune on street tires or stock width DR's.... to be able to launch well on a race star setup with mickey thompsons I'm sure the RPM's would have to be substantially higher.... much more stress on the trans for sure
