Default 2012 Charger RT AWD predictions..

So the day has finally come..

Living way up North, it was destined to happen..

I traded my 2008 Mustang GT for a 2012 Dodge Charger RT/AWD with the 5.7 Hemi , 370hp/395trq.

Sure, it only runs a high 13 but that's pretty damn good for a nearly 5k lbs. sofa on wheels rofl

It handles like a monster in the horrible arctic winters.. even on all seasons!

Scary.. I know!

The bad news is that the PCM's are locked down, that means no tunes.. no superchargers etc.. only BOLT ONs.

My plans are;

cold air intake
85mm throttle body
JBA shorty headers
dual 3 inch cut outs
3200 stall high performance torque converter
180 thermostat
and possibly the 6.1 SRT-8 intake manifold.

That should net me nearly 45-50hp(crank) than a stock RT (roughly 320whp/340trq.stock), so 350whp/365trq (?)

A little bit less than the older 6.1 SRT-8s.
Mind you, this IS a 4500 sedan..4650 lds. with me included.

What do you all think it'll run??

13.5@102mph? rofl

Thats crazy man. I don't want to knock the car but your not going to see much increase in performance without a tune. What made you go with the charger? From what you listed thats a lot of cash to be dropping on mods just to net you 50 BHP.

Somebody will unlock the code for the PCM it will just take time, I'd just wait it out.........ask the guys with the 392's how they feel.

13.5 @ 102 sounds about right.

You can't tune these cars? FFS that's lame. I know at least one guy who got rid of his RT challenger for the same reason. Ended up with a 5.0.

Yup, PCM's are on lock down!

Sad but true.. I guess a lot of the LX guys or diesel guys were blowing things up with too much boost and ending up trying to warranty it. The corps got mad and locked things up the for '11s on up. Guys are actually trying to petition it! Kinda funny and sad.

I am aiming for a solid 13.0@108mph, which isn't super compared to nowadays standards with everyone running low 12s to high 11's with next to nothing.. but it IS a big monster or a car, AWD and dog 3.09 gears.. oh, on a stock factory tune and all seasons.. NOT the greatest combination for a drag racer, I know...

but the AWD is killer int he snow, and gets through like no other can, except trucks and big SUV's. I don't like small cars, and I don't like trucks so this really was the best vehicle.. once the PCM's are opened, and a tune can be made.. that 50bhp, will be more like 50whp.. not gonna hold my breath though lol

Dead of winter, with massive snow storms always imminent.. I think I'll be okay

My understanding was the SRT8 cars aren't locked down. It was the 5.7 that was locked. Maybe they've changed that.

Thanks

It gets around!

I will eventually buy another S197 once the prices drop to about $10k.. I'll build it from the ground up this time around. I love those generation GTs!

I know the RT isn't a drag racing champ but considering how it is and the type of vehicle it is, I'd be happy with whatever times it runs quite honestly. It drives so well in the snow with such authority, it makes up for it big time!
