Default 11 6er vs 11 370Z...

This week two guys at my job bought two new cars.. Ones a 2011 Mustang V6 and the other guy bought a 2011 370 Z. Of course the trash talking started immediately. I was just wondering, with equal drivers who do you guys think will win? Forgot to mention they are both manual...

370 has it, hands down. More power, assuming lighter. I do know they're good for low 13s... I've seen it with my own eyes at the 1/4 in Fayetteville, NC. Good thing about the 11 V6 is that he can tune, gear, and return the favor. That 370 isn't going to respond to mods worth a damn, so he's pretty much stuck where he's at unless he spends big $$$$$ on a turbo or something.

Yeah the z should take him with any half decent driver.

But the 3.7 can get some really good initial mods on the cheap, so there's room for improvement. Tell him to get a tune, and maybe gears and race again =)

370Z/350z-hr with no problem... Equal drivers of course. Low 13s @ 106+ vs high 13s @ a little over 100.

And why is it that the Z won't respond to mods besides a turbo? Sorry, I don't know much about that so I'd like to know why the Z won't see the gains that a Mustang would.

I believe it really comes down to the fact that the nissan engineers were able to effectively harness all the potential power that engine can put out. I am told exhaust (high flow cats, or gears) are among the most popular "bang for buck" mods among those crowds.

Sorry if that didn't answer your question too well.

Pretty much. the Nissans boys just didn't leave as much power on the table as ford does. And to the original question. 370Z smokes the Mustang V6. The 350z would be a very tight race.

Equal drivers, 370 hands down, as has been said. 13.7s is all these v6's are seeing stock, with either stock gear (2.73 or 3.31). I know that with my mods + d/s + tire= 13.03s, and that was bogging off the line. I can't claim that time, yet, but my dad can

I have a couple weeks yet before my car goes to the body shop, I'd like to run into one of the couple 370's we have local myself. Should be a pretty tight run I think, hopefully with me coming out ahead

I think with a good driver and maybe a tune a v6 mustang can surprise a 370z. Actually I just raced an auto 370z( being shifted manually) and I think I did decently well in the trailblazer. I think the mustang has a good chance.
