Default Hangwire's KB 2V, Tune/gear/exhaust LS1

Not sure if you guys remember back when I ran Hangwire. He basically has a KB 2.1 automatic GT with a few mods on stock gearing. At the time I had a lid, tune, and cat-back. This is how a 45-50 roll turned out on the street... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4ErA...5gg&playnext=3

and on the track... I was running 12.5-12.7 at 108-110 back then. His Stang ran a best of 12.9 at 112 that day, first time ever at the track, so not too shabby imo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0oUQ...3&feature=plcp

Now to the bench racing part. Since then I have done longtubes with an off-road Y-pipe,as well as 3.73 gears and the free ram air mod. I now run 12.2-12.3 and trap 113-114 depending on if I'm hot lapping or not. What would the outcome be now on the track and from a roll in you guy's opinion? He texted me last night saying he thinks I could stay within 2 cars of him at this point. I have my opinions on this, but want to hear ya'lls first. As long as the weather holds, we'll be hitting the track Sunday. Might even be able to talk him into a roll race on the way back (he got a nasty ticket recently so understandably it might not happen)....

I'd bet on you either race.

Sadly I would say you're going to get this one stone. I would imagine the kb car having more traction issues than you, and a stock gear/ stall automatic car I don't see trapping over 114.

Anyone else care to weigh in? We should be hitting the track in Fayetteville tomorrow. I'm at the coast and its been cloudy here for the past two days, but Hangwire says the sun broke through yesterday inland, so its looking good so far!

I think you'll def pull him from everywhere y'all decide to run from.at the strip it'll be ugly and on the street id say you pull him by 1-2 cars. If y'all are able to hit tge track good lunck!!

Yeah my text was about the roll race. Strip will be all him. Roll race will be interesting the gears are going to kill me. Theres a small chance it could get really ugly though because I have an air leak under my blower and its running really lean under vacuum. The computer is dumping 25% fuel at idle and barellllly holds 14.7 A/F. Under boost it HAS been running fine but the leak continues to get worse and i'm wondering if boost could be escaping at this point.

One thing to note is that on that drag strip vid I had 275 Nitto NT555s crammed onto an 8 inch rim and they were crowning hardcore. Not even all of the tread was making contact. I bought 10.5" rims and NT05 315s so the extra tread and correct shape on the sidewalls should help me a little bit. I've gotta learn to prevent any spinning at all bc as soon as that happens the run is over and i'll probly run 13.0s n ****.

Doesn't matter to me either way, its still fun and until I drop cash on the suspension i'm not gonna have real great expectations. I plan to throw slicks onto my 8 inch rims and start swapping those on for runs down to the strip. That should help......up until my differential blows.

The gears are helping me a fair amount, mainly from a dig, but my top end picked up 4 mph since doing headers and the ram air mod.

I think your ET will be much better tomorrow vs last time we went. Supposed to be pretty cool tomorrow. Plus you have a much better idea about what to expect. As for that rear, that sucker isn't gping to let go, trust me. Swap your 8.8 for my pos 7.65 and then you've got something to worry about, lol!

I'm gonna lose about 2-4 tenths once I get heat soaked too. I gotta keep the motor off in the staging lanes as much as possible. The KB gets up to 180 degrees when idling but stays nice and cool as long as the car stays moving. If I kept driving after strip pulls the temps would never even raise a bit. But running it hard then just idling gets her hot.

Ahhh your on a nt05!!! That def makes things better for the track. Run 20psi in the tires and do a good burn out then at the line foot break the car as much as you can without it spinning and if your not loosing boost from the intake leak then I see 12.5-12.6@113

Btw while your at the track buy a bag of ice to set on the blower to help the heat soak.... hell it help my n/a car out about 2 tenths (back when I first bought it)

Just got back from the track. Ran a tad slower today for some reason. A bunch of 12.5s and 12.4s, all at 112 mph. 1/8th stayed at 8 flat and 88 mph all day. Hangwire was running slower today as well. 13.5-13.6s at 108ish.

Got to run one of my track buddies in his 03 Cobra, full exhaust, 2.8 pulley, etc. he ran 12.2 at 116 to my 12.4 at 112. We were only .02 hundredths apart at the 1/8th, but 2 tenths apart by the 1/4. Felt damn good to stay within 1.5 cars of him though. Just sucks it was the only run I didn't vid from in the car! He has an SLP loudmouth 1, so you can imagine the noise that thing was making. Traffic was too heavy on the way home for Hangwire and me to get that roll race in. I was pinging pretty bad due to sorry gas I got at the beach and Hangwire is having some leaning out issues, an air leak possibly, so neither of us was running tip-top.

DA was 1500'.
