Default New Stingray. LT1?????

Reading up on the new Stingray and was very surpised to see that it will be equipped with a 6.2L LT1 engine pushing over 450 horsepower. Manufactured claims of 0-60 (I know who cares) in 4 secs and a low 12 in the quarter. Just wondering why did Chevy put the boosted up LT1 in the Stingray and not a LS engine?

Its a heavily modified LS3 engine. They just changed the name to LT1 but it has virtually nothing in common with the previous LT1 engines.

Just saw rwhp numbers at just over 400 stock. Going to be a strong running car... torque curve is ridiculous as well.

No boost (not sure what you meant there...) just the next revision of the GM pushrod. I think the name is dumb but then again I don't agree with a lot of what GM does anymore. That rear end....ugh

Yeah when you look at the lt1 heads vs Ls heads they're very similar mostly. Except for obvious locations if direct injection injectors and the sort. We've already got a cnc head program in the works and should have ours somewhat soon.

That new Vette look hasn't grown on me yet. Not sure if it ever will. Should be a decent runner though. Didn't they gain a few pounds this time around?

The car looks good in person. It looks more like a sports/exotic car than a Corvette. It's not unusual to see them driving around here in south eastern Michigan (I'm guessing per-production units).

IIRC they have 7 speed manuals and whatever speed autos, so I'm guessing they will be a flat 12 second car stock with a higher mph good for high 11's.

7 speeds for both, and I'm with ya stone, the rears are *** ugly. Like 99GT said I see them weekly around the area, and I dont know what the hell they were thinking with the back of that thing. side and front aren't bad but a c6z looks 10000000X'S better all around. Should be a good runner tho, guess only time will tell.

I'm sure the body will grow on me. The interior is supossedly world class now. Performance has always been top notch.

It's funny, every time I comment about hating the rear end I get told it's because I can't afford one and I'm jealous. WTF is that? You're right though.... even if the new C7Z stomps the C6Z into the dirt there is no way I would pic the looks of the C7 over the C6Z if that rear stays the same. I keep thinking it will grow on me but every time I see the rear ...
