Default Testing the waters..

I went out with a good friend of mine and a bunch of his buddies. Trying to break out of my current social group and meet new people. Turns out one of the guys is a fellow Mustang enthusiast. He drives an '04 GT, compared to my '07 sixxer. It was really nice to sit back and actually talk cars with someone that cares. Haha.

Unfortunately, all I saw were pictures, and I must say his is very nice/clean. I started joking with him saying that I could definitely beat him on the track. Obviously I don't think I could hold a candle to his, but it got me thinking. How badly WOULD I lose?

His car: '04 GT. 5 speed. Stage 2 clutch. CAI/BAMA 87 tune. UDP. X-pipe/Cat-back system. Staggered wheels. (Didn't say what size). Stock rear end.

My car: '07 V6. Auto. Mods in sig.

Last time I raced a GT, it was bone stock, and I beat him. I later ran into the kid that raced me and confirmed that his was all stock. I'm almost sure that this guy would beat me, but just out of curiosity, I'd like to know. It was a lot of fun to joke around with the guy though. He said he'd but up for racing on a 1/4 mile, i'll try and talk him into that.

I'm on my phone so I can't see your mods but if imagine your torque monster would need some significant work. Have you been to the track?

Copied over my sig for people on their phone:

BBK CAI / SCT X3 w/Bama 93R tune / True Dual / X-pipe / Borla Touring Cat-back / 8.8" Rear / 3.73 / J&M Steel PHB / Nitto NT555's / 18" Staggered Machined GT500 Wheels / FRPP N-Springs / Tokico D-Specs / J&M Plates / BBK LCA

I haven't been to the track. While I'm sure it's a lot of fun, I would be pretty nervous I would mess up something. Or hit a wall. Or miss my turn to head back to fhe pit.

99-04. I am not very good at telling the difference between those years.

We were only going short distances, maybe 1/8 mile down the road from a dig. It was a one time thing. I ran into him at a gas station a few weeks back and he said that he was trying, but couldn't beat me off the launch.

I know I won't be able to beat my friend, I was just curious about our times. He was claiming high 12's, low 13's in the 1/4. I was a bit skeptical, but I don't know much about the New Edge's.

His mods you have listed, I do not see him hitting 12's.

Good deal. No way in the he** this guy's running high 12's low 13's. Especially with his mods. Do you think you guys may get to run?

I told him we should get a couple of runs in. He doesn't want to run a 1/8 which is what's around us. He said he would definitely lose that. He would only want to run a 1/4. Have to find a place for that.

Sounds to me that he can't drive. He's definitely not hitting 12's. He's relatively close mod for mod of what I have and on street tires I've gone a 13.7. He'll most likely be slower than mine unless he can drive like a bat out of hell. You do have a decent amount of work done though to make it interesting. I feel in the 1/8 it would be closer than you think

I think he would beat me in both the 1/8 and the 1/4. He's the one that doesn't want to race the 1/8. I might get him on launch just for the fact of my rear, but that's about it.

When we all get together again hopefully this weekend, we'll set something up and run.
