Default Part throttle shifts

I am in the middle of swapping my car to an automatic for many reasons. The only thing I am a little worried about after the swap is everyone tells me how fast the auto up-shifts during part throttle. For example, mt friend with a 4r70w and 4.10s says that he is in OD by the time he gets up to about 30mph if he isn't WOT. What would I need to adjust in the tune to get the shifts to drag out a little longer?

You can do it in the tune, but IMO, the better option if your concerned about it is a full manual valve body....shift it when you want.

A full manual valve body kind of takes away one of the major benefits of having an automatic. I already have a shift kit that will hold every gear, so if I want to I can upshift it all the time manually. It still would be nice to just be able to change the shiftpoints at part throttle like you can at WOT. Is that possible?

Thanks mike. I'm sure messing with this stuff is gonna be fun. Is there anything else I should look out for that would be different when tuning an auto? I mean besides the shifting stuff. I have heard a couple people say they like a little bit more timing at WOT. Is that true?

4r70w isn't that weak, they have some folks making mid 7 second passes on 4r70w transmission with the lockup still !!!!
