Default sct software update trouble!

so i got curious as to how i would go about downloading new tunes on my sct scf3/x3 tuner for when i get my new parts soon. so i found out i needed to install an update off of the sct website first. so i downloaded the update but i'm having trouble installing it now. it's an ".lwu" file and when i click to install it all i get is a pop up saying that my computer does not know what to open it with. any1 know how to solve this issue?

It´s a proprietary format, and it´s extension is not registered in windows. You have to open it through the update program itself(SCT Device Updater).

I´d just get the updated interface program here by entering in the device´s serial #. Then use the live update feature of the program itself to update the SCT´s firmware. It should be called SCTDeviceUpdater.exe I think. Just be prepared to watch a movie or something, the thing´s flash interface is slower than hell. Took about an hour and a half to flash mine the last time.

This is a good thread. I'm subscribing & bookmarking so I can refer to this when I need to update my tuner too.

Windows Vista & 7 seem to Not like the SCT software for some reason.

Just gotta ¨run as administrator¨. Just right-click on the shortcut instead of the normal left-click, should be in the menu that shows up. Don´t think you need to use compatibility mode.
