Tuner locked. Can anyone help?
I have an SCT XCAL2, purchased from VMP tuning back in '08, with 3 custom tunes. When I traded off my 2005 4.0 V6, I kept the 93 octane performance tune loaded. I had no idea that I'd have to return the 4.0 to stock to prevent my tuner from being locked.
Now, I have to send it to SCT and pay $150 to get it unlocked? I think that's b.s. There was no manual or instruction that came with this thing that told me about what locks it.
I sent an email to Justin at VMP but he won't help. Heck, I even wanted to buy new tunes from him. So with the cost of unlocking this thing, plus buying new tunes, I might as well buy the new X3.
I'm pretty mad about this because now my XCAL2 is a paperweight.

I was wondering this same question. Guess I may as well buy a new tuner and get new tunes than spend $150 plus the tune charge anyways. I have the same problem with my sct II.
Looks like a new SCT X3 is $399 Or I can get the SCT X3 and a new C&L Street C.A.I. for $625. This sucks cause I really only need a new tune.
