Fixing SCT Tuning Errors

Fixing SCT Tuning Errors
Hello fellow mustang owners. I'd like to share some helpful information with you regarding your SCT Tuners that have the 1014, 1016, and 1034 error codes. I purchased my first mods today for my 2013 Mustang GT (Steeda CAI and SCT X3 tuner) and came across some issues while going from my 91 Performance to my 93 Race tune.
Basically, for me, the only thing I needed to was disconnect my negative terminal on my battery and reconnect it. I also did it twice (30 second intervals) because the tuner failed to load the first time after the negative was disconnected, but it worked like a charm after the second disconnection and my SCT tuner was able to return my car back to stock and then uploaded my 93 Race tune.
Hopefully this bit of information helps you guys out who have this similar problem, at night, when SCT tuning offices are closed and you have no other options. Otherwise, you could also possibly call up SCT duringn office hours to get your files updated and get your tuning errors fixed.
Overall, gentleman, the combination between the Steeda CAI and 93 octane tune from BAMA Performance is totally worth the cost. I couldn't believe how much it wakes the engine up, in power AND in sound. Literally a beast now. Was the tuning issue a total PITA and inconvenience? Yes. Was it totally worth it for the final result? Damn straight.

JonnyW,
Thanks for this! This is definitely helpful information. I recommend always making sure the Tuner is up to date and your battery is fully charged! Unplugging the Battery for 30 seconds will definitely give the car a fresh start and should do the trick, if the issue is similar to what you experienced.
You can also feel free to give the Bama team a call any time you have a question! They'll gladly get you squared away. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away! Most importantly, I'm glad to hear you're really enjoying your Bama tune and CAI combo kit. This will definitely turn your car from a mild street car, to a beast!

As a tech-tard, I recently spent 2+ hours on the phone w/the great techs @ SCT trying to square away some issues w/my SCT 3000 model. It's been updated w/new firmware & working well now, thanks to Wyatt specifically.
Then the good folks @ American Muscle/Bama, Ryan specifically, are patiently working w/me to square away some tune issues.
I wish all companies offered the customer service that SCT & AM/Bama provide to their customers. Both top notch in my book.

SCT iTSX failed to set up accessory. (0xff)
I have a 2013 Mustang GT and use the SCT iTSX tuner to change the tunes on my car. I have tunes from two different companies, 3 from Bama and 3 from Brenspeed. Yesterday I took my car for a dyno test and wanted to check the performance of both companies' tunes. I always run Brenspeed on my car and have been happy with it but still wanted to test the two companies' tunes. I started with Brenspeed, then switched to Bama and drove it home after the dyno. When I reached home I tried to put the Brenspeed tune back on my car and the SCT said, "Failed to set up accessory. (0xFF). It then told me to return my car to stock. I tried to return it to stock and an error came on saying that because of an error it could not be returned to stock. Now the car won't even start. Turn the key absolutely nothing. Biggest problem is that when I search on these forums everyone talks about SCT needing to create a recovery program. The problem is they are open Monday - Friday 9 am to whatever EST. I am stationed in the middle east which is 7 hours ahead. This seems to be a huge problem that SCT is well aware of so why don't they provide any support on the weekend when most people are doing things with their cars. Being that this is my only car here in the country I have missed a day of work and had to rent a car today being that I still have at least 24 hours until SCT opens for business. I have sent emails to various SCT people as well as American Muscle/Bama tuners. The biggest problem I see is that I have been using my tuner for almost a year now switching back and forth between my Brenspeed tunes and never had a problem but the minute I put the Bama tune on, there is a big problem. Now I'm not here to point fingers but is it possible that Bama has a problem being that when I read the various forums about this problem trying to find a solution I keep seeing the name Bama pop up. Again, I'm not here to point fingers but I paid quite a bit extra for this wireless tuner and right now I want my money back and reimbursement for my rental car as well as I used the hand held old school tuner previous on my '08 and never had a problem with it. If anyone has anything that has worked (other than waiting for SCT and Bama to open) I would appreciate any suggestions to get this car running.

1. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 5 minutes (30 seconds didn't do it for me)
2. Connect the battery and wait 5 minutes
3. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.
4. Fully close the app on my ipad
5. Plug in SCT tuner, connect via bluetooth
6. You should not be able to restore your factory tune.
7. When finished, go to your computer and uninstall all SCT Device Updater software. I know this sounds extreme but the updates wouldn't load properly.
8. Go to the SCT website and download the latest version of SCT Device Updater
9. Open the software, then plug your device in via USB
10. Click automatically check for updates. It will go through the process of downloading the updates to your device (I had 602 things to download).
11. Then I removed my tunes from my device (I don't know if it was necessary...but I did it anyway.
12. I then put the tunes back on my SCT tuner
13. Now I was able to install the custom tune back on my car and it is running great. I'm very happy!!! I hope that someone is able to use this information especially if you get stuck like me on a weekend with a car that won't run.
