Tuner truths?
Hey guys, I have recently fell in love with the cammed sound at an idle. I called my local performance shop and was inquiring abot having a set insalled. The guy asked why do I want this. I said I like the way they gurgle when idling. He claims he could sell me a sct 3015 and tune it to sound that way. The only aftermarket parts I have is a cai and dual flowmaster original 40's with a H pipe. This sounds too good to be true if you ask me.... what do yall think? $350 for the programmer, $250 for the custom tune or $500 for tune and dyno testing. 2006 GT 4.6
What is the local shop? There are chances that if it's a big enough shop, other people from this forum may have used that place before, and can speak about their reliability or can speak about if they're a good place to go to or not.
SCT tuner for $350 is right on par along with the cost of the tunes, but I would post up who you're going to just to make sure, otherwise I'd say go with a brand name tune that you know for sure. Take recommendations from forum members, that's the best route to take.

Yes, the individual control of the intake and exhaust cams on the 5.0 allow tuners to adjust the settings to allow for a 'lope' at idle like the car has a lumpy cam.
I believe what the tuner was referring to is called a "Ghost Cam". Like Mike already stated it is only possible on the new 5.0L Coyote engines. So it's a moot point if you have a 2006 with a 4.6L. I have also read some not so good things about ghost cam tunes.
