Default RE: v6 engine conversion

I am in the middle of dropping a 5.0 in my 2000 V-6 and believe me when I say it is quite a lenghty process. I can't comment on the cost because I had a 93 GT donor car given to me, but the following has to be changed: K-frame, motor mounts, ecu, ecu wiring harness, fuel system (according to the engine...the 99 to 04 is a returnless system) and fuel pump. I am on my 4th week of the project now.

To lazy to read all of that, but remember, you should get forged internals, a ported sytem, and a cam for forced induction.
why?[&:]

Because, 1.) you'll get a bigger power gain, and 2.) you know that your internals will be more than fit for the extra strain that will be added onto them, it's not 100% neccessary to do, but really should be done if you don't want to run the chance on blowing a stock piston, piston ring, or rod.

i dont see it running 3000+ to do the swap,id say a used 4.6,if u get one outta the 99-04s then hmm i dont know how much a salvage yard would charge u for it but id say u could prolly get one 1000-1500 if u wait around and look alot.....then u can do the swap urself, buy the parts u need, wiring harness,pump,a/c lines i think,i dont think the extra parts will run over 1000,so 2500max prolly around 2000 if u get used stuff or find good deal on a wrecked one....

but i do agree that spending 2 to 3 grand u can up that v6 u got to be a gt killa......i think those turbo kits and eveyrthing to go with em would run up to 4-5000 though....IMO if u get a good deal on a wrecked gt then id say go for it if thats what u want and have the time and knowledge to do it....

really, how many people do you think on here know how to screw around with the wireing and computer, then you need motor mounts, a rear end, driveshaft, suspention, mise well swap some GT or mach guages in since thats the engine they are made to read off of.
