Default v6 engine conversion

i just baught a 01 v6 mustang with the full saleen body kit with corbra rims, and dual cat back exhaust (flowmaster 40 series mufflers) I must say im in love with the outside, sounds decent but not liken whats under the hood, if it wasnt for the beautiful body i probally woulda jus baught a gt. I was thinking about the idea of dropping the v8 in it, does anyone know if thats possible, if so, how much would it cost and what would i need to do it? i plan on keeping this car until the end and not going to trade it in.

it can be done, but it will be expensive. probably be cheaper to by a gt take the kit off the v6 and put it on the gt and put the gt parts on the v6 and sell it.

for the price of a 4.6 swap you can have a 400+hp 3.8L turbo setup under the hood

click here and forever forget about the V8 (which i have a 99 GT and it will barely hit mid 14's)

www.tmaturbo.com

or bid on this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4619923032

i think the guy will take 2800-3000 for the kit.

it was Justin Starkey from www.vmptuning.com first TT kit that he sold to somebody. now they are selling the kit because they are trading in their V6

"390RWHP / 430RWTQ @ 14psi @ 3700RPMS OUT OF A STOCK JUNKYARD MOTOR!"

that quote is very true. justin had a tad over 400rwhp with that kit on an internally stock 3.8 at the same boost levels

what would you rather do $3000 to swap in an anemic 230rwhp V8 or spend $3000 to get 400rwhp out of you 3.8 and have an awsome smile on your face when you wax other V8's asses

of course there are answers

here they are

ready? write them down so ya don't forget!

1. cost. it will run about $3000+ to swap in a V8 to get 230rwhp
2. the swap is labor intensive and highly technical. it is not just a drop in swap in 1 weekend. it will take a good 2 weeks to do it if not more and time = money
3. you MUST notify your insurance company of the swap because if you don't and they find out they can sue you for insurance fraud for paying V6 premiums and having a V8 in it. at the very least they will not cover damages in an accident.
4. the value of the car to trade it in just went right down the toilet. most dealerships run VIN#'s on your car to see if there is an R-title or significant damage reported in the past. if they see all the work done to it they will not resell it on their Lot. there is too much liability with it. they will just auction it off and give you next to nothing for it because that's what they expect to get at auction for it
5. the 3.8 essex block is every bit as capable as a 4.6 to build the same levels of power for the same kind of money

people have done a swap in the past but it is just plain stupid unless you are swapping in at least a DOHC 4.6

turbo for the best power

procharger for simplicity.

a procharger 11psi kit on a 99+ will give about 300rwhp and torque

the turbo kit will give about 50-100hp more and 100-150ftlbs

the turbo kit does not have a CARB # for emissions but it still can pass emissions except for Cali which requires a CARB # for any mod most of the rest of the sattes are more lax in their regulations. basically if it passes a sniffer it is fine

here in PA if the car is a 96 and newer (OBD II) and it doesn't throw a Check engine light it passes. they still hook it up to a scanner to make sure the check engine light bulb isn't burnt out or disconnected

BTW welcome to the site and the 3.8 fraternity. there are also a few other good sites with very good tech info they are www.3.8mustang.com and www.v6power.net

To lazy to read all of that, but remember, you should get forged internals, a ported sytem, and a cam for forced induction.
