audio help...
no before everyone gets on my case about it being in the wrong place, lemme just say that i dont feel like getting told to "replace my mach 460 system" or how "the 460 sucks" now with that out of the way, i have bought a brand new alpine 9855 deck for my car. i bought the necessary wiring harness to hook it up. it gets a full display which is a good thing, and it also produces bass through my sub system, however, no vocals, music, or sound is comming out of the speakers what so ever. now i had this same problem with my explorer that had premium sound, and i had to do an "amp bypass" now i think i have to do the same thing to my stang, but i am not for sure, i could use some insight please.

i know exactly what your problem is. mustangs have external amps for their speakers. you know that purple "remote" wire you hook up to your sub amplifier??? you need to splice into that and have that run to your factory amp too. i had the same problem and after a bunch of troubleshooting, finally found out that was the problem.
do all stangs have factory amps? or do the older ones just run off of the power the head unit supplies... if thats possible?
as much as i know about electronics, car audio is just a notch over my head.

yes all mustangs have external factory amps. if you are hooking up a new head unit, you have to make sure to connect that remote wire to the factory amp or you will get no sound. the remote wire turns the amp on/off when you start/turn off your car. i would recommend just bypassing the factory amp though. having 2 amps creates distortion.
