there should be one remote wire that plugged into the back of your factory stero... this wire should feed all of the amps for your mach system. if you want to bypass the amps you will have to buy crossovers because the mach system has component speakers. this will split the high frequencies to the tweeters and the mid frequencies to the mid bass drivers. this would be very confusing to hook up lol. i wouldnt even want to do it myself. if i was you, i would just go through the factory amps.

As said, amps turn off via the remote wire from the head unit, so if the factory amps aren't hooked up to your new head units remote wire, they won't turn on.

Also, keep in mind that the factory head unit on newer Stangs have pre amp out from the head because they are going to amps. If your new head unit doesn't have pre amp out to both the subs amp, and the mid and high amps, it won't work with out a high/to low out adapter, (can't think of what they are called at the moment).

edit: thinking about the pre amp thing, you would still hear sound if you hooked high out put from your head to the factory amps, so probably not your problem. The remote wire sounds on the money.

arent the amps under the back deck on mach systems? i wonder if there is a power light to see if they are on.... go check! turn on your car and if you dont see lights on your amps thennnnn its the remote wire. if you do see a power light on.... booze is on it with the rca outputs for the amps
