Default shock replacement?

Ok, well I think one of my shocks finally dead. My front left area is squeeking at ever little bump and dip there is and its driving me INSANE!!! My area is all bad roads, most of them are just patched together and our poor city doesnt even repave them. I think that contributed to them wearing out. What would be my best bet in replacing that one or all of my shocks on my 98? I am on a buget too...thanks guys

Default RE: shock replacement?

Are you sure it's the strut and not sway bar bushings or something else?

here's a quick test to see if you need new struts - Push up and down on the fender of the offending side. When you stop pushing the car should stop moving after 1 1/2 bounces. If not or the whole car sways, you need new struts/shocks. If it does stop, then you have bushing that just need to be replaced.

Ill have to see if I can stop at my dad's garage before work today. Hopefully its just something simple. How much do those adjustable ones cost?
