Dude, it's a V6 it's meant for people who can't afford to own a V8 muscle car but still want the Mustang name. It's not meant to be a performance car...
...although it can be...ask Jonny.

I've never heard a non stock V6 mustang, but I'm sure they sound better than Civics with a fart can, however I like the way my stock Civic sounds...so I can't complain about anything.
i jus removed my pipes and it definately donest sound ne thing like a civc my friend has a nice civic and they sound soooo different and a v6 can do everythin that a v8 can on the road its not like we drive on race tracks so and a v6 is a better economic chose jus my opinon

In the end, no matter what, you are going to end up spending more money to get less on a V6. Just like it was said in all the other posts.
I see nice 99 and up stangs going for 12,000 these days, with like 50k on them. I saw a 98 GT vert going for about 8500 with 60k on it.
Even without PI heads, the 98 will still smoke a 6. Figure the price of a new 6 at what, 18K? That leaves you over 9000 dollars to spend on the PI swap. While your at it, slap on a KB or ATI procharger, a set of cams, and full bolt ons. Now your running AT LEAST 12s at the track, with a car that is still streetable (mild cams only mind ya)
Guys lets face it, this is a never ending argument. On one hand you have V-8's who have the brute force right out of the box. On the other you have a V-6 that has the looks of our precious Mustang, but lacks that brute force the V-8 has.
Well we do miss one thing. Insurance. Now I have had to work for everything I have, my car, the place I live. Everything. Meaning I have to pay my own insurance, and I am 22 and live in Canada, my insurance is ok.....but thats cause I own a 4 cyl. I pay $165 a month.....ya ya, thats good. But if I was to have a 5.0L, it would be $350. If I had a V-6, it would still be $165. Thats one hell of a difference when you still have to buy food each month. So some of us can't own the "all high and mighty V-8" So what, we love our Stangs just as much as anyone here.
The V-8 guys have to realize that not everyone can have the ability to have a V-8, so we make due with what we have. End of story.
But also, (Some)V-6 guys need to get their heads out of their butts and see the facts, bone stock, a GT is gunna walk all over a V-6. If a GT guy spends $2000 on his engine, and a V-6 guys spends $2000 on his engine, the GT is still gunna blow you away. Live with it, move on. And enjoy your car.

Bottom line is this "THERES NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT"
The v6's are like the straight sixes and the 4 bangers theyre for people (MOSTLY CHICS AND KIDS) who want a stang but for other reasons cant own the v8.

As I said, a 98 will cost you sub 10K now. With only a small downpayment, one can be had for somewhere in the 190-210 a month stage.
If you dont have a boatload of cash sitting around, and I mean a boatload, you arnt going to make a 6 beat a GT very easily. The point is for the costs of making a 6 as fast as a GT, you could easily own a GT and put a few cheap mods into it (gears, catback).
There is absolutly no reason to own a 6 if you want performance out of it, other than if you have a ton of cash and just want the novelty of running a fast 6. Unless you are filthy rich (and screw you if you are
) it still doesnt make much since. For the same money you could have a mustang that will own almost anything on the street, compared to a high 12s six. The only true cost difference will be in your insurace, and its still not an insane amount unless you are under 21.
well the sadest thing is even honda Accord V6 give Stock Mustang GT a real good run for there money, Remember back in the day driving 93 LX 302, And racing 91 honda civic we were side by in 3nd gear, the only way he took me was a shot of NOS, other wise he was done, like I say nothing beats the sound of V8, honda 4 bangers are catching up.
