Why does the 3.8 get bashed so much
the 3.8 mustang gets bashed so much because it was copied from the 3.8 buick which spanked sooooo many 5.0mygodmyv8sucks mustangs. it is really the best sleeper out there today. more hp/dollar can be had out of a 3.8 ford than any other engine out there. believe me i`ve built them all and the 3.8 will reward you with the most hp/dollar out there
the fact is the 5.0 needs a $1200.00 (at the least) set of heads to run( not to mention a cam, and intake). stock iron heads wont support any hp believe me i`ve tried. and a 99stockv6 will run with most stock 5.0mygodmyv8sucks and pre power improved headed 4.6`s. my wife`s 99 4.6 vert is a dog and an embarrasment to the ford name. to get it to run i`d have to invest more money in it than i did with my 98 3.8. my father-in-laws stock 98 cobra only dyno`s 217rwhp and 252rwtorque. so please tell me how much better the v8`s are than the 6`s. you are talking to a 31 year old engine builder not a snot nosed 17 year old punk who dosen`t know his *** from a hole in the ground.
the fact is the stock splitport 3.8`s make more hp/cubic inch than the 93 240hp cobra.

the 3.8 with stock heads be ported to 300+cfm on the intake and 280+cfm exhaust for next to nothing. try that with the 5.0 stock heads. that kind of flow you need $1500.00 heads on a 5.0mygodmyv8sucks.

no, actually it wasnt copied (at least from the truly fast buicks...the 3.8 turbo fi gn's which came out in 84)...3.8's been in the mustang since 83. it is not the best hp/dollar either...5.0 is hands down, and anyone who argues against that is smokin crack.
actually it was copied from the 3.8l buick get your facts straight. the 3.8 ford heads offer far more potential than stock 5.0 heads because they were based on 351 cleveland 4bbl heads giving it a far greater advantage in the hp/dollar than the 5.0. believe me i`ve built about 30 5.0`s and hope to never build one again. with stock heads the 5.0 is usless and not worth modding. if the 3.8 split port was a v8 it would equal 5.1L@257hp 340ftlbs torque that`s better than a 5.0 or a 4.6 anyday
my argument is that it's not based directly off the fast (84-87) 3.8 buicks, or it woulda came out post-84. and bone stock, gn's really aren't too blazin fast unless we're talkin a GNX.
try and find me some aftermarket heads for the 3.8 cheaper and better than ones for the 5.0...wait, never mind...it aint gonna happen.
nobody's talkin stock heads on a 5.0...beauty of em is the aftermarket is so cheap that you can get badass ones and not have to get a second mortgage *cough* 3.8 *cough*
and PS if my sister had a dick she'd be my brother. 3.8 isnt a V8 so shut the **** up.
bottom line, 3.8 has less potential, isnt as stout out of the box, has a limited and relatively expensive aftermarket, and isnt tried and true. if the 3.8 was half as great as you're talkin it up as, why dont people build them up? cause theyre not.

V6's doesn't sound anything like a civic and you can fix that prob. it you think it does i have a 2000 v6 i thought it would be fun to own one since the other mustangs i had, had v8's in them my v6 now has almost 260 horses and that's only with a super charger and some other mild modification such as the high performance exhaust and underdrive pullies, plus i'm workin on a shift kit, a major tune up and lookin' for some NOS yea i could have a lot more horses if all that were on a v8 but this v6 of mine is just for fun, I take the left over cash after the bills are paid and save it up for something i want on my stang.
