Clicking Noise
on my way to skool this morning i noticed that when i made a turn (right or left) i kept hearing a kind of clicking noise, and its gettin me worried. anyone have any idea on what the problem is and how serious it is?
Take it to a shop, that may be serious. Go to Firestone, Ford, or some other suspension/tire shop immidiatly after school, last thing you want is for somthing to break and cause you to get in a wreck.
that happened to me before. i had hit a pothole and caused some damage. it broke like a stabilizer link and i had to get it changed. pretty easy if you got a jack and some hand tools. the piece only costs like 10 bucks. But def get it checked out.
Could be as simple as a loose brake pad, or it could be a loose wheel or bad wheel bearing.
First try to figure out which wheel it is coming from with the help of a friend. Next jack up your car and get the effected wheel in the air. Next pull the wheel side to side and see if you have any slop. If you do, you need to slightly tighten your axle bearing nut just enough to take out the slop, but the wheel still spins freely. If it doesn't have any slop, then start rotating the wheel. If you spin the wheel and you hear the clicking, it's more than likely a bearing. If it is a rear wheel, you will need both wheels off the ground and the trans in neutral, also release the E-brake. Make sure your car has a block under the wheels that are on the ground so it doesn't roll.
Before you go buy a wheel bearing, take off the wheel where the noise is coming from, and grab your brake caliper and give it a good shake. It should be tight with no movement. If it does move at all, it could just simply be a loose caliper. Also examine your brake pads to make sure you don't have a broken or bad pad.
