Default Fast or fullovit?

After watching The Fast and The Furious and sequel, my brother-in-law thinks his 2001 Jetta will hang with my '03 vert 6er.
Most people in my area put in a K&N air filter and think they have a race car. They tint the windows and then rev at every light.
I'll give you the car info. first.

2001 Jetta (1.8 or 2.0 ?)-daily driver
bone stock except for K&N filter (not CAI) just filter

2003 (3.8 vert)-pretty day toy
only perf. mods -true dual flowmaster 40's
-bomz racing CAI (fender kit) w/ K&N filter

What do you think guys? Does he have a chance or is he jealous of the Stang?

i dont think much of the 2.0 but i dont know much about the jettas. i know that the 1.8t can be made quick with little money. a friend of mine has an 04 jetta 1.8t with a chip and exhaust and he thinks it will beat my 00 GT with intake and exhaust. not sure if thats true but its pretty quick. cant race him till i get my car back from the shop but ill let you know in a little bit how it goes. if its a stock 1.8t then i think you could have him but once the get that chip which turns up the boost thenthey get quick. Good luck on the race

I knew you had a good chance, but I found some specs for you anyway. The Jetta is probably puttin out about 150 hp and weighs right around 3,000 pounds. Your stang probably weighs a little more, but comes STOCK with 190 hp. After the mods, prolly a little over 200. You're probably puttin out close to as much power to your wheels as he is to the crank. All in all, my money is on you.

if its a 1.8, i think he's got you. if it's a manual non turbo it still might not be too far behind you if at all because front wheel drive has less driveline loss typically and you have more weight because of the convertable and rims. what transmission do you have

He's a 2.0 auto. non-turbo.
I'm auto as well.
My wife's 2000 ZX2 will out run him.
I'm better behind the wheel, no doubt.
