Default 2.3 intake

Hey guys...just wondering if there is anyway I can get a little more power from my 2.3...it's an '88 and has an auto tranny, and I bought it for gas ,mileage. I was wondering if anybody sells like a cold air intake or if anyone has made one that has pics....because I think that it needs to breathe a lil better. Or any other little mods for the 2.3, lemme know.

no. some people will tell you to use a pep boy's honda cai, but dont listen to them. itll just be sucking in hot engine air and really reducing your performance.

there's other stuff you can do, but its not worth the money for the n/a's

how hard would it be to swap in the 2.3 turbo, or just put that turbo on it? how much time/modifications would there have to be?

If you need more from the 2.3 na get a Ranger (about 1993) exhaust manifold- it's a header. Then have the exhaust run down the passenger side of your car to eliminate the bends. The DDIS head (8 plugs) has been rumored to give better flow and can come from the same Ranger or a 91?-93 Mustang. A junkyard is the best place to look. I usually can get them for about $50 each if I pull them. The exhaust manifold will need the Ranger's EGR tube so remember to pull it too.
The turbo swap can take forever, trust me, unless you've done it before. I've done 5 and plan another soon, but these are on cars I don't use for work. Find a tashed T-coupe and buy it for parts if your wanting to try. They came with allot of extras; Brakes, interior, ect. that are nice, but were just too heavy for the 2.3T to show its stuff. I prefer to use the 93 mustang engine, but the 88 is a ton easier to do. It's almost a straight swap. use a front intercooler, and have an exhaust shop fab up the piping.

Kill ricers---I don't want to "supe it up", I want to let it breathe better. Chill.

When youre all about killing ricers, and you hang out in a 2.3/V6 forum, youre bound to act a fool. Dont bother with him.

For a cold air intake, if youre creative enough, you could probably take a 5.0 mustang intake, and make something work with it. Its not a direct swap, but you can probably pick up some other supplies here and there, and make something. I made one work on my turbo 2.3L.

The header from the Ranger is also a great suggestion. WHile youre at it, have a mandrel bend 2.25" exhaust put on it, something like a superturbo muffler, and a high flow cat, that will help quite a bit, and might sound kinda neat.

There isnt a whole lot you could do really, most of the power making mods can increase your efficiency, but when you start getting into cams, and porting and all, there is a fine line between efficiency, and ruining the flow.

the n/a's wont benefit a whole lot from that stuff unless you put some serious money into it, and at that point its not worth it.
