Hay harv whats the diff between the metal and plastic tubung, besides engine dress up
Despite what some say here, NOTHING. The air flows through fast enough NOT to cause it to heat up.
Fixed
not true at all...it does make a SLIGHT difference

At the rate the air flows through it, there is no significant diference between the plastic and metal tube. If you believe everything you read, then put a Turbonator in your car for a 20% increase in HP and milage. I speak from practical experience.

Slight differences don't mean anything conclusively. For the 2000 V6 that the original thread starter posted about, I would recommend a K&N FIPK II. In my case however, a K&N Aircharger caused occasional stalling, and a C&L CAI (with aluminum tube) was the way to go.
