Help!!!
I've got a big problem I think, we were filling the enigine oil until we saw that we were filling in the wrong place. We were filling the pipe that is under the AC-compressor. Does anybody know what the function is of this pipe? What does it fills? And is the enigine oil bad en what will happen if we leave it there? Thanks voor your replies!! It's a 3.8 V6 Mustang from the year 1985
There is no line below your air cond unit. Sounds like you added oil to your power steering reservoir. No immediate prob, but get it drained and refilled right away. All the fliuds are patrolium based, so no biggie....well except the coolant. Point out where you added the oil.
well I'm not too sure which hole it is but it's going to be either the engine oil dipstick line or the transmission fluid line...
Engine Oil Dipstick Line----- sure... would have been easier to just pour it in where the engine oil cap is... but you're doing the same thing with the dipstick line...
Transmission Line------ Oops... I'd get your transmission fluid drained and have the tranny cleaned and flushed with new fluid ASAP.

I'm affrade it was the powersteering tube. But the picture you are showing is from a new model mine model is from 1985 but the tube looks the same as on your picture. Is there a bolt or something like that whitch is useabel for draining the oil? And how can I get the oil easy out of there if there isn't a bolt? The cap that was on the tube had some kind of measurement for measuring the fluid in the tube.
There is a line at the bottom of the power steering reservoir. You can remove the line and it will drain out and then start the engine and it will pump the rest of the fluid out. (put a bucket or something below) Do not run your enging for more than about a minute. Reattatch the line and refill to the proper level. Should be fine.
PS, after you put the "power steering fluid" in the "power steering fluid reservoir" start the car and turn the steering wheel all the way right then left a couple times to get the fluid back through the system. Good luck
PS. a good trick for no mess is to hook up a hose about the size of the line at the bottom of the reservoir long enough to direct into a bucket. Or a long funnel works too.

ooo man that sucks, was your power steering pump u put it in. well another way to tell is if the "tube" u poured the oil in is connected to a pulley. with an old car like that the oil is poured into the valve cover i believe and not a tube. but either way in that picture everything is the same but the tranny arrow and the coolant arrow possibly, other then that everything else is pretty well the same area. i think the only way to drain your power steering is to disconnect a power steering line, idk if their is a plug.
I've just dubbel checked it and it is the powersteering pump. If I'm correct is there only 1 cable under the reservoire? I only felt one tube. Does anybody also know how much fluid go's into the reservoire? And has this done any damage to the pomp or something else?
actually you don't have to only run the engine for a minute... as long as your engine has oil in the oil pan... prefferably 5 quarts... you will be fine with running the engine... just don't turn the wheels.
What I suggest is to drain the system... then turn the car off and refill with ps fluid... open the drain and start the car... keep doing that until you don't see the brown colored oil anymore... should see a clear liquid (depending on what type you get).... I'd say it'll only take maybe 3 times flushing before you've got the concentration of oil down low enough.
Also... one more point I forgot to bring up... use ATF instead of PS fluid if you want. Since you have to completely replace all your fluid you might as well.
