Default Underdrive Pulleys?

So i heard from a few friends i should get some pulleys for my car..? what exactly do they do and how much will they cost to buy?
one more thing can i put them on myself?

Do you have a V6 or a 4cyl? The diference is, I really don't think they make UDP's for the 4cyl. UDP's free up HP. By using a smaller crank pulley, it turns the engine accessories at a slower speed, and directs the parasitic HP loss back to the rear wheels.

i wish it was a v6 but no its a 4cylinder...would they affect your mpg or help it?

They help with mpg slightly.
