Well I did slightly mis word that, but the fan doesn't always control air flow, because my 98 had the fan totally go out and the engine damn near overheated, but the A/C still worked perfectly fine.

ok, the a/c compressor has no effect on the fan blowing air thru the cab. if your compressor isnt clicking on, sorry to say you most likely need a new one. with the hood open and car running with the a/c on, you should hear the compressor lock in and notice the initial drop in rpms as if puts the system under load. if it is not locking in(i.e. the pulley continually spins freely) then 10 to 1 your compressor is burnt up.
See i know its not kicking in. On my jeep i turned the a/c pump into a air compressor. So i know what it sounds like when it clicks on.Its not

That's cus most cars with A/C have 2 fans nowdays. One is for engine cooling, and the other comes on only when you turn on the A/C. It's for extra cooling needed with the extra draw from the compressor.

I've done that before too. It's kinda nice having an air compressor under the hood.

Definatly keep us posted. It could be something simple. Like a clogged expansion tube, or orifice. I'm a certified A/C tech, and this problem has me interested.

I didnt read all the posts just to let you know...

The same thing happened to my car about a week ago, it blew air and everything, it just wasnt cold. My dad got out his tank of freon and put more in. Now it works perfectly! There's just a leak in one of the hoses, I havent gotten any time to find it though.
