Actually that problem was on my old 98 sixer, the car in my sig is a 95 GT for which I've already dumped around 3K in repairs, thank God I'm done, I hope. Ok best way I can say this is to click on my photo album and then click on my engine pics for my 98 V6. You'll see a little aluminum tube about 5" long just behind the first bend of the cold air intake. This little tube will also have a black box ontop of it with a wire that runs into the fender well. The little black box is the mass air flow sensor (that's what went out) but to fix that, the mass air meter (that little tube) has to be pulled and the whole thing has to be replaced. The MAF sits in the backside of your airbox in behind that little black wall looking thing behind your air filter. Only real way to check it is have Ford run diagnostics on it.
Do you mind pointing it out to me on my engine? By the way, I'm sorry for being so difficult ... I'm new to this whole forum thing, thanks for helping me though man!

Could also be the injectors like someone else said. Go to any Wal-Mart or gas store and get some fuel injector cleaner. Poor the whole thing into your gas tank, and then fill it up with gas. Now if you have a bad injector, that won't help much, but it will help clean out any crud stuck inside the injector.
I'm going to do that today and report back to you, will you be checking back in this thread for me? You have no idea how much I appreciate the help, lol

Even though my old 98 was slightly different in that I had a cold air intake, the MAF/MAM is clearly visible. OK, your air box is split in two peices, the back end where that wire runs into from the front, is where the maf is located.

Ok, I've got the Fuel Injector cleaner ... Should I wait until I get gas next to put it in?

And back to the engine problems -
When I press the brakes and floor the car (I've only done this around 5 times to my car, which still may be too much) my car doesnt do anything ... it just slowly lurks forward until I let off the brake and then it takes off, the car does however doesn't really rev very high in this state. I am not trying to get this fixed so I can do it again, I am just wondering why this has happened to my car? Sometimes the car will burn rubber for a while, I will let off and take off, other times It will stay there, lurk forward, and take off when I let go.

My car also lags when I try and speed up to pass people sometimes (not all the time)...

Sorry ... LoL, most of these problems have been occuring ever since I've had the car though, so I'm sure I didn't do much to screw it up more???

Put the fuel injector cleaner in when you go to fill up next, and do it before you fill up the car, that way the new gas stirs it up. You every time I did that in my sixer with the breaks I spun out, so their's deffinitly a malfunction somewhere. I still say bring it to a shop or back to Ford to get that MAF checked out, also getting the air intake sensor AIT, all of your fuses, and all of you electrical lines checked wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Unless you know what you are doing, DO NOT MESS WITH THE MAF. It's VERY easy to break the wire.

Yea, like I said, let Ford screw around with that thing, that way, if they break it, they fix it.[8D]

I changed my oil and put the fuel injector cleaner in it. I bought something from Lucas, good brand? I had 1/2 tank of gas in the car, so I put it in and filled the car up with gas the rest of the way ... They didn't have instructions on the bottle, so I tried to use some common sense . I changed my radiator fluid, and transmission fluid ... It took me 4 1/2 hours to change my oil ... Not because I don't know how, but because I couldn't get the freaking bolt on the oil pan off. I tried every different kind of tool you can think of and finally realized I was accomplishing nothing, So I tried to get to it with my fingers and forgot that I had been driving on the interstate earlier ... Yep, bad idea. Eventually I got it off, and changed the oil with no problem. My neighbor forced us to use Castrol GTX (It's what I normally used anyway) even though I had bought Penzoil. She said Penzoil messed up the engine, which I think is complete BS ... any truth to that?

And also, How do I go about cleaning my engine? It is FILTHY... I started out with a white t-shirt and ended up with a black one.

I also noticed the car SEEMS more responsive, is that all in my head?

SORRY ABOUT ALL THE QUESTIONS, lol.

Ok, thanks for the heads up, I will leave it alone ... If I can't fix the problem without doing something dangerous to the car I'll bring it back to ford.

PENZOIL IS THE DEVIL! Actually your neighbor is right. Penzoil is parafin based. WAX. Unless you do oil changes every 3000 miles, sludge will build up in the engine.
As for cleaning the engine, get some GUNK from the parts store. With the engine warmed up A LITTLE, spray it on, wait about 5 minutes, and wash it off. But, if you have a cold air intake, ie: exposed air filter, cover it with a plastic bag before spraying the GUNK on. It will disolve the oil in the air filter.

Wow, I can't believe she was right ... and here we were making fun of her, lol.

What do you mean by "A little"? Sounds very simple to do so far!
