Engine Problem
I have a 2002 V6 Mustang, stock engine, Mello-Tone dual exhaust is all I have done engine-wise. My car idles roughly when I am at red lights, stop signs, in traffic, or in line at a fast food place. The only way I can really describe it is a jump. My car will idle normally, then drop under .5 RPM's and rise above 1.5 RPM's... We've brought the car in to the dealership numerous times, and every single time they say they have fixed it the problem comes back within 20 or so miles of driving the car. It is a continuous problem that I can't seem to solve. Does anyone here have any suggestions on what to do and how to fix this? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

How many miles on the car, and what have you done to try to solve the problem so far?

You've got to go to you profile, edit your sig, then all the way at the bottom click apply. My bet is that it's the maf. My car did the same thing and if baffled several mechanics as to the problem. Make fun all you want, but this

here is the only one smart enough to say, hmm, maybe it's the maf, and lord and behold, guess what it was, the maf. Mine had an electronic malfunction that caused it to read totally improperly. So bring it back to ford and tell them to take a look at that. If it's not that, then it could be anything from a stupid burnt out fuse to a bad spark plug.

Actually that problem was on my old 98 sixer, the car in my sig is a 95 GT for which I've already dumped around 3K in repairs, thank God I'm done, I hope.
Ok best way I can say this is to click on my photo album and then click on my engine pics for my 98 V6. You'll see a little aluminum tube about 5" long just behind the first bend of the cold air intake. This little tube will also have a black box ontop of it with a wire that runs into the fender well. The little black box is the mass air flow sensor (that's what went out) but to fix that, the mass air meter (that little tube) has to be pulled and the whole thing has to be replaced. The MAF sits in the backside of your airbox in behind that little black wall looking thing behind your air filter. Only real way to check it is have Ford run diagnostics on it.

Could also be the injectors like someone else said. Go to any Wal-Mart or gas store and get some fuel injector cleaner. Poor the whole thing into your gas tank, and then fill it up with gas. Now if you have a bad injector, that won't help much, but it will help clean out any crud stuck inside the injector.
