go home!!!!!

3.73's

4.10's are rock crawler gears and muscle car gears from the 60's. there is no need for them. i have had both 3.73's and 4.10's and truth be told the 4.10's give no advantage in acceleration over 3.73's. anybody that thinks they do needs to do some more testing in the real world

Not saying anything, but I love how most of you guys reccomend a gear setting without any first hand knowledge of gears, and then you in turn tell people not to do the same thing, that's freeking halarious. I agree with cobra 232 on this one, 4.10s are for high powered racers, not daily drivers, sure they can be used on a daily driver car, but if you don't have enough hp to back them, you may findyourself in more trouble than you're prepaired for.

that makes absolutely no sense. where do you get some of this from? you get the gears because you don't have enough power. they get you out of the hole quicker and rev it up faster. i say 4.10 or nothing. that's from my personal experience with the crappy 3.73s with a blower.

+1000000000000000

next they will say 4.10s cause drivetrain and engine damage. i upped the gearing on my truck and i love it. i went from 4.5?? to 5.1??. i can't remember the exact numbers cause it was like 5 years ago. it was awesome though

I don't remember sayin that i never had 3.73 gears!......4.10's or go home! Been both places an i love the 4.10's. I agree with myself an my experiences. it is def. true that you need a certain amount of HP for 4.10 gears...well he has an 01-232 190HP that is plenty for 4.10 "ROCK CRAWLING GEARS"...lol i assure you my stang is not rock crawling, crawling is not even in it's vocabulary! STOP SCARING PEOPLE AWAY FROM 4.10's they are a wonderful gear! If i am not mistaken he has 3.27 gears now....It's a waste of money to bump to the 3.73's you are buildin him up this massive increase that he will not see unless he goes 4.10's! So give your opinion on the gears an let the guy choose for himself!

OK, I totally worded that one wrong. The sn95 V6 engines tend to be strained a little more due to the higher gear setting + the fact that a 2.73 - 3.73 is just as big as a jump as 3.24 - 4.10. There have been several people on here with early sn95s with 4.10 gears and most of them had some type of problem ranging from horrible mpg to differential and tranny problems. Oh, Harv is the one that told me in a PM that the sn95s can be strained by the gears.
